Kampala, (UG):- The Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye has called on Ugandans to actively participate in President Museveni’s upcoming presidential tours scheduled to begin on Friday, November 8 in Bukedi sub-region, eastern Uganda.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, November 6, at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, Hajjat Namyalo, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs (SPA/PA) said these “wealth creation” tours are meant to enable the President to assess the impact of government programs focused on poverty eradication.
“The tours will allow the President to gauge the effectiveness of his wealth-creation policies in improving the lives of Ugandans,” Hajjat Namyalo said. “The President will interact with Ugandans to get an update on how programs like Parish Development Model are working to end poverty and boost household incomes,” she added.
PDM is designed to drive multi-sectoral community development, foster accountability, and enhance household incomes. It places the parish as the epicentre of this community development.
According to the released schedule, President Museveni, who also serves as the NRM National Chairman, will meet with stakeholders, local leaders, technical personnel, and model farmers over the 3 days climaxing with a public rally on Sunday, November 10th.
The presidential tours form part of the NRM government’s broader commitment to poverty alleviation and sustainable development across Uganda.
The tours started last year under the theme: “Wealth creation and Prosperity for all, with emphasis on the Four-Acre Model, Parish Development Model, Emyooga and other Government livelihood Programmes”.
The President has so far toured Acholi, West Nile and Greater Masaka sub-regions and will in the coming weeks visit several other regions to assess the progress of government wealth creation programmes and their implementation to the wanainchi.
