Kaliro, (UG):- The community in eastern Uganda’s Kaliro District is mourning the untimely demise of Mr Mpigwa Deo, the Agricultural Officer of Budomero Sub County whose life was claimed in a devastating road crash that occurred on Friday evening along Kaliro-Iganga road.
The fatal crash according to reports happened at around 7:00 pm at Nasuti, a village on the Iganga-Kaliro road.
Reports from eyewitnesses suggest that the late Mpigwa was riding a government motorcycle, registration number UG 3793A, when he collided with a stationary sugar cane lorry which was parked on the roadside with no visible warning signs or lights.
The Chairperson LC3 Budomero Sub County, Mr. Bakambe Moses confirmed the incident and urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads especially when travelling in the night and he also asked authorities to evacuate abandoned vehicles along sensitive routes to prevent such tragedies.
“We appeal to all drivers to be vigilant and cautious, especially at night. We also call upon the authorities to remove abandoned vehicles from the roadsides to prevent such tragedies,” Mr Bakambe said.

The body of the deceased was ferried to Iganga General Hospital Mortuary at Nakavule for postmortem examination, as investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash took shape.
“The community is in shock and mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant. Mpigwa Deo will be remembered for his tireless efforts in promoting agriculture and improving the livelihoods of farmers in Budomero,” a one Kaiga Michael Ngobi, resident of Kaliro district mourned.
DailyExpress has learnt that the deceased was recently given the responsibility to take on estate control of their family as the heir after losing their father. It is reported that the family had more trust in him to control the family after burying his father.
“It is quite tragic and unfortunate. We buried his father recently and he was installed as heir. He is also gone,” a one Nabe Tom said in a consoling social media post.
