Kampala, (UG):- President Museveni will this week visit the Teso sub-region in Eastern Uganda as part of his countrywide assessment tours on the performance of the Parish Development Model (PDM) wealth creation programme.

“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) informs the General Public that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will next head to Teso Sub-Region from November 18th to 20th, 2024 on his Parish Development Model (PDM) performance assessment tour,” PPU stated in a statement on Tuesday, November 12.

During the tour, the President will meet stakeholders including various categories of leaders and technical staff and address public rallies in the respective districts/Soroti City, a development that comes just days after the President completed his performance assessment tour on PDM and wealth creation in the Bukedi sub-region and in the Greater Kibaale.

On his Bukedi tour, the President reiterated his call to the people of Bukedi to embrace commercial agriculture with “ekibaro” in order to transform their livelihoods. He said this can be done through the 4 acre-model where they can use one acre to grow coffee, the second acre for fruits, the third acre for pasture for dairy cows, and the fourth acre for food crops.

The emphasis of the assessment tours according to the Presidency is the need to emphasize the Four-Acre Model, Parish Development Model, Emyooga and other Government livelihood Programmes as proven avenues for wealth creation among the wanainchi.

In the financial year 2024/25, the Government allocated a sum of Shs 1.059 trillion for PDM meaning that each parish shall get an additional Shs 100 million to benefit more households.
