PICTORIAL: Museveni commissions Teso zonal industrial hub in Soroti

Soroti, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni has officially opened the Soroti Industrial Presidential Skilling Hub, an initiative aimed at enhancing vocational training and youth skilling across Uganda.

The new centre, which currently enrols 240 students from various parts of Teso regardless of their academic backgrounds was commissioned Tuesday morning as part of the President’s ongoing assessment tour of government programs in the eastern Subregion.

During his visit at Mugana cell in Arapai, Soroti, President Museveni inspected several facilities, including those for welding and metal fabrication, industrial art and design, hairdressing and cosmetology, carpentry, and brick-laying.

The students at the Hub showcased their tailoring and other skills acquired through training programs aimed at youth empowerment and economic growth. The President expressed satisfaction with the skills and knowledge displayed and pledged to support their initiatives.

The Soroti Industrial hub launch was graced by prominent government leaders, including Vice President Jesca Alupo and Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among.

The President is now set to address local leaders and technical staff from all districts in the Teso Subregion at the Kumi Boma Grounds, focusing on strategies for wealth creation for socio-economic transformation.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to empower youth and equip them with practical skills to enhance their employability and promote local economic development.
