Kampala, (UG): Authorities at St Francis Hospital in Nsambya have opened on the assault on their staff by gang members linked to Singer Patrick Mulwana aka Alien Skin who stormed the facility on Tuesday night and caused chaos therein over their colleague death.
In a statement released on Wednesday, November 20, the management of St Francis Nsambya Hospital said the matter began after a patient, Joram Tumwesigye was brought to their emergency department after he had been allegedly crushed by a truck, which reportedly pinned him against a wall.
“Upon his arrival, our medical team promptly initiated emergency care. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and he succumbed to his injuries. His remains were handed over to the Uganda Police for a post-mortem examination,” the management of the facility stated.
Nsambya Hospital clarified that hours later, a group of unknown individuals led by Alien Skin attacked the facility and assaulted some of their staff “demanding information about the deceased.”
The hospital condemned the attack which they described as an act of violence against their staff. “Nsambya Hospital remains committed to providing compassionate care to all who come through our doors and ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, their families, and our staff.”
The Hospital’s statement came moments after the KMP Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said authorities had kicked off investigations into circumstances under which two security guards and other medical staff at Nsambya Hospital had been beaten by Alien Skin’s group.
Owoyesigyire said one individual, identified by a witness as ‘Alien Skin,’ allegedly demanded medical forms from the attending doctor who refused to heed the request.
“When his demands were not met, the suspect and his group reportedly assaulted the doctor and two security guards before fleeing the scene,” he noted.
But Police said they are now hunting for Alien Skin and the group he was with, who are believed to be directly linked to both the suspected murder and the subsequent assaults.
“We assure the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Owoyesigyire stressed, appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
