Jinja, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Jinja City have arrested and detained at Jinja Central Police Station a Landlord for allegedly defiling two daughters for one of his tenants.
Kiira regional police spokesperson SP James Mubi confirmed the development to DailyExpress identifying the suspect as Wandera Francis, 40, a resident of Jinja city, who defiled the tenant’s two daughters on multiple turns.
“The suspect has been detained at CPS Jinja Central for purportedly defiling the tenant’s two daughters aged five and two years respectively. He’s a resident of Jinja city,” Mubi said, adding that “police have since preferred two charges against the suspect for the offences he allegedly committed between October and November this year.”
“He faces two counts of aggravated defilement. Preliminary investigations indicate that he committed the said crimes in the months of October and November, 2024. He could purportedly buy jollyjus and chapati as a way of luring the juveniles, especially in the absence of the parents,” Mubi added.
The unfortunate and ugly incident, according to Mubi came to light when the victims opened up and narrated the sad story to their mother, something which prompted her to report the matter to Jinja police to have the landlord arrested and prosecuted.
Mubi says that the victims were medically examined and a report suggests a possible act of defilement while the suspect was also medically examined and it was established in a report that he is of sound mind.
Kiira regional police command led by SSP Charles Nsaba has since been committed to apprehending suspects of sexual assault cases, and Mubi argued that it is an obligation of every citizen to promote and protect children’s welfare and safety.
