Soroti, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni has sent heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims of the Kakira accident, which claimed seven lives and left several others injured. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday along the Jinja-Iganga highway at Kakira.
The accident involved a taxi, registered as UBP 574J, travelling from Mbale to Kampala, which collided with a stationary Fuso truck, registration number UAF 333B, that had broken down due to a mechanical failure.
Among those who perished in the crash were Tasike Seith, Lunyolo Petwa, Wetaka Emmanuel, and Mulekwa Mark. Wangolo John and Kabale Godfrey, both district councillors from Manafwa District, were travelling to Kampala on personal business when the accident occurred.
During a media engagement on Tuesday afternoon at Teso State Lodge in Soroti, held on the sidelines of his wealth creation tours in the Teso region, Keffa Mafumo, a staff member in the Office of the President, conveyed the tragic news to President Museveni.
Mafumo informed the President that several leaders from Bugisu, as well as some of his Bazzukulu, were injured in the accident. He also appealed for support for the affected families during this difficult time.
In response, President Museveni expressed his sorrow over the incident and assured Mafumo that formal condolences would be extended to the affected families. He reiterated his deep sympathy for those who suffered losses and injuries.
