Kampala, (UG):- The 14th Annual Uganda Diaspora Homecoming (business breakfast edition) happening next month is aimed at fostering collaborations and meaningful connections among the diasporas who play an indispensable role in propelling Uganda’s economic future.
Scheduled for December 28, 2024, at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, the Diaspora Homecoming is a premier event that brings together the Ugandan diaspora from around the globe to engage in dialogue, and activities focused on the development and prosperity of Uganda.
This event, organized by Mr Ronnie Mayanja, the visionary founder of Uganda Diaspora Network aims to bring together a host of government leaders and representatives, private sector leaders, civil society specialists, business entrepreneurs, academics, and members of the Diaspora community all focused on contributing to national development.
The networking and partnership event will also provide a valuable platform to address key challenges and foster a supportive environment for the Diaspora to effectively contribute toward building a prosperous Uganda.
During the homecoming dinner, the Ugandan Diaspora community will get vital information about banking, real estate, mobile money transfer, healthcare, insurance, mortgages, and dual citizenship, among others.
The primary role is to highlight the pivotal role of diaspora populations in nation-building, while also exploring ways for them to profit from safe and secure vehicles that help Uganda’s economy via their remittances.
Ronnie Mayanja asserts that the event will emphasise the inclusion of Diaspora members in national development, and recognise outstanding Ugandans who are contributing remarkably in their respective areas of expertise on a global scale.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, has described the event as a good tool for diaspora mobilization, because mobilized diaspora populations play an important role in promoting national interests, by leveraging migration’s benefits for development.
“Mr. Ronnie Mayanja has organized this initiative, which is in President Museveni’s interest of socio-economic transformation, as it creates a better environment and collaboration between government and the Diaspora community. The government continues to support Diaspora mobilisation, therefore, I urge Ugandans abroad to unite and attend the event.”
The 14th Annual Uganda Diaspora Homecoming is expected to have a dedicated session for networking, fostering collaborations, and creating meaningful connections, moderated by a vibrant speaker showcase in Executive Director of the African Institute for Investigative Journalism, Solomon Serwanjja, and graced by business consultant, Maggie Kigozi.
