Kamuli, (UG):- The district of Kamuli supported by Katalemwa Cheshire Home yesterday celebrated World Cerebral Palsy Day at a colourful function held at Makoka Primary School in Namwendwa sub-county Kamuli district.
While conveying his message to the congregation, Mr Mitala Moses the Assistant CAO Kamuli District urged parents of children with cerebral palsy to love these children despite of health problems and not to lose hope.
Mr Mitala said that parents should act like soldiers while taking care of their children with disabilities. “I know you go through a lot but act like soldiers, don’t give up, show these children love and care because they need it,” he said.
At the same function, Katalemwa Cheshire Home donated wheelchairs and stretchers to children with disabilities and according to Mr Kenneth Tumuhirwe executive director, they have done this to help the parents who take care of these children with cerebral palsy.
“Parents go through difficulties while giving care to these children that is why Katalemwa Cheshire Home has decided to donate these wheelchairs and stretchers to support the children”; he said.
Mr Kinigiza Ali, a Clinical medical officer from Namwendwa Health Centre IV said that they have tried to create awareness of this disease and appealed to parents with such children to go to health services and get help from the experts.
He also asked expectant mothers to always go for antenatal. “We appeal to all expectant mothers to go for antenatal because cerebral palsy disease is caused by delayed labour, head injuries etc. Your antenatal expert will examine you,” he said
