Old Trafford, Manchester (UK):- Premier League giants Manchester United will begin their Emirates FA Cup defence with a trip to Arsenal in the third round of the competition following the cup draw held Monday evening.
Now led by new head coach Ruben Amorin, United will look forward to beating the record holders Arsenal in the competition’s third round in a bid to win a domestic cup for the third straight season.
The Red Devils, who lifted the FA Cup for a 13th time in May by defeating rivals Manchester City, will face a tough test at the Emirates, with Arsenal aiming to extend their record number of Cup wins.
The draw, held at Old Trafford (United’s home ground) on Monday was conducted by ex-Reds Mark Hughes and Dion Dublin also saw League leaders Liverpool take on Accrington Stanley for Arne Slot’s first taste of the cup competition.
Pep Guardiola will hope Manchester City’s woes are overcome in the third round, which takes place in early January with a tie against Salford City – owned by the famous ‘Class of 92’, the majority shares by Gary Neville.
Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham will face non-league outfit Tamworth while West Ham will face an uphill task with a tie against fellow league side Aston Villa. The National League side earned their spot with a dramatic penalty shootout win over League One’s Burton Albion in the second round.
The third round will see the addition of 44 top-flight clubs, including all Premier League and Championship teams, joining the 20 lower-league and non-league sides who made it through the second round.
