Museveni promotes Tanui, Musana, three other senior police officers to AIGP rank

Kampala, (UG):- President Yoweri Museveni, who is also Commander in Chief of the armed forces has promoted five senior officers to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) ranks.

The list includes former Kampala Metropolitan Police commander, Mr Stephen Tanui who is currently Director of Fire and Rescue Services.

In a statement released Monday, December 2, 2024, Uganda police spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma identified other promoted offices as Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) James Apora (Director of Logistics and Engineering), SCP Lawrence Nuwabiine (Director of Traffic and Road Safety), Joseph Obona (Director Interpol and International Relations) and SCP John Geoffrey Musana (the Deputy Director Logistics and Engineering).

“Uganda Police Force extends its congratulations to the officers upon the appointments and promotions in the Uganda Police Force,” Mr Rusoke said.

This elevation of officers, this website understands, is aimed at ensuring that senior leaders in the Uganda Police Force hold ranks commensurate with the positions they occupy.
