The Territorial Police of Gulu Central Police Station (in Gulu City) are investigating circumstances under which a young woman believed to be around 25 years old was allegedly murdered and her body dumped in a nearby road drainage.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson revealed on Monday (December 2, 2024) that the Homicide detectives at the Gulu Central Business Policing Division registered an incident of suspected murder of yet-to-be-identified female adult by unknown assailants.
Mr Mudong explained that the woman’s lifeless body was wrapped in a white polythene bag and dumped along Acholi Road within the Gulu City Center and was discovered by residents of the area.
He further revealed that upon being informed, the police of Gulu CPS received a distress call from locals (name not revealed) that there was a suspected dead body wrapped in a white polythene bag and dumped along Acholi Road.
“The Police booked out to the scene and recovered the dead body and conveyed it to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for Postmortem as inquiries continue,” remarked Mudong.
He also said that since there were no identification documents with the deceased, the Police urged any members of the public with a complaint of a missing person to report to the Gulu CPS with any relevant information that could lead to the identification of the deceased.
Mudong added that by Press time, no arrest had yet been made in connection to the above tragic incident and asked the public who may have any relevant information that can link the perpetrators to confidentially share it with the security for possible apprehension and subsequent prosecution in the courts of law.
This, however, comes barely two months after another case of an unidentified female adult who was believed to have been gang raped and murdered was also discovered in a drainage in Gulu City.
