Gulu City, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Gulu City Monday retrieved the body of an unidentified adult female, wrapped in a sack and discarded on the street near the police barracks.
The victim’s body was found along Acholi Road, wrapped in a white polythene sack by an unknown assailant. David Ongom Mudong, the police spokesman for Aswa West Region, described the incident as a “suspected murder.”
“In the early morning of 2/12/2024, Gulu CPS received a distress call about a suspected dead body wrapped in a white polythene bag and dumped along Acholi Road,” Mudong stated.
He further noted that the Homicide Department at Gulu Central Police Station responded promptly, securing the scene, recovering the body, and transporting it to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
Police confirmed that no identification documents were found with the deceased and called upon anyone missing a loved one to report to the police for assistance in identifying the body.
“We urge any members of the public with information about a missing person to report to Gulu CPS so we can help identify the deceased,” Mudong added.
By press time, no arrests had been made in connection with this tragic incident. Police have increased efforts to collaborate with the community to gather clues or information that may help apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.
