Pallisa, (UG):- The hopeful candidate for Pallisa District LC5 Chairperson in the upcoming 2026 elections, Mr Ben Okiria says he is aiming to fill the vacuum of transparency between the community and the district leadership.
Okiria who unsuccessfully contested for Pallisa Town Council in the previous elections (2021) has now turned his weaponry to oust Patrick Duchu the incumbent LC5 chairperson for the Bukedi region district but the latter still needs to serve in the same office.
“Pallisa needs a person of my calibre who has time to serve people as they expect my candidature is for effective service delivery given their biting needs ”, Okiria said.

Politics is like football if a coach who in this case are the voters you don’t insist on the pitch but follows the rules of the game wave at teammates, go and hug your substitute and the march continues.”Okiria said.
“Corruption is a vice everywhere and it should be fought by everyone, the aspect of tribalism. improvement of the education sector by lobbying for the opening of the ceiling as we need over 800 needs good coordination with other stakeholders to improve on our poor performance in the sector that takes 50% of the budget.”
“It’s unfortunate to spend 17bn annually to get 58 in divisions one, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 in divisions two, three, four and five respectively.
Parents need to know the importance of feeding children while at school because during holidays and weekends, they eat two meals in a day, why not transfer one meal to school?”, He asked.
He noted; that being a candidate for a seat in heaven himself with the faith he has he would not tolerate any form of corruption and poor service delivery.
“There are some people who alongside me are eyeing the top district political office but given the vibrancy I have on the ground they are shaken and are now trying to mislead the public that I am still young and cannot handle the business with most heads of departments,” Mr Okiria said.
Those currently interested in the district LC5 office and are warning for NRM primaries include; George Oule Omoding the NRM district Chairperson, Emmanuel Emuron the former LC3 chairperson of Chelekura sub-county, Outa Grace Engorit the Kamuge town cou ncil councillor, and the incumbent Duchu.
