Kampala, (UG):- NGO League, a prestigious alumni league that brings together old boys of Namilyango College, capped off over the weekend with the Los Bandidos crowned as Season Four champions, securing the title by the slimmest margin of just one point.
Famous as ‘the Class of 2005’, the Los Bandidos amassed 45 points over the season, narrowly edging out Ba Musaayi Muto (Class of 2004) at 44 points in a thrilling final day fixtures played on Sunday, December 08, at the Kampala Parents Sports Complex.
Right from the kickoff whistle to the final minute of the game, the Bandidos played with purpose and determination, and it was no surprise that they delivered yet another stellar performance in the grand finale, cementing their legacy as the champions of this season.
Reflecting on their hard-earned victory, Tom Agaba, a standout performer for the Los Bandidos remarked on their inspiring journey saying; “This season was all about resilience and discipline.” “We’ve worked hard, trained harder, and today, we reap the rewards.”
The league, sponsored by Guinness, also showcased standout individual performances this season. Ivan Otai of the Barbarians emerged as the top scorer, netting an impressive 12 goals across the campaign.
Muliiko Cranmer of the Spartans earned the Best Goalkeeper award, having kept an incredible 15 clean sheets.
Fred Sekweyama of Los Bandidos was rewarded for his exceptional playmaking skills, leading the league in assists and significantly contributing to his team’s success.
While presenting the trophy, Ms Patience Aguti, Project Manager at UBL, one of the league’s key sponsors, commended the players and organizers for their dedication to the league’s success.
“It’s amazing to see how far the NGO League has come. This year’s competition was more exciting than ever, and we’re thrilled to have been part of it,” Aguti remarked, adding; “We look forward to seeing even more teams and fans come together next season.”
