Babalanda confirms Museveni’s 2026 candidature for Presidency

Mbale, (UG):- The Minister for the Presidency, Hon Milly Babirye Babalanda has confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni will be on the ballot paper in 2026.

While closing a three-day capacity-building workshop for RDCs, RCCs and DISOs from Bugisu and Bukedi Sub regions at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale City on Wednesday, Hon Babalanda said they still believe in the able leadership of President Museveni and RDCs must double their effort as the country gears up for elections.

According to Babalanda, just as President Yoweri Museveni traverses the country on a wealth creation drive, the RDCs must also intensify the promotion of government programmes by encouraging Ugandans to embrace and appreciate them.

The Minister also warned RDCs against engaging in corruption tendencies saying those found culpable will be personally held liable.

The Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), Col. Emmy Katabazi urged the RDCs to contribute massively to the ruling government’s performance in the 2026 general elections by effectively monitoring and evaluating government programmes.

Ms Naome Nakawala the Mbale Deputy Resident District Commissioner has welcomed the training saying that fellow RDCs must desist from engaging in acts that might taint the image of the Presidency.
