Police probe murder of 53-year-old man in Omoro

Omoro, (UG):- The Territorial Police at Omoro CPS is investigating the circumstance that led to the death of a 53-year-old man suspected to have been murdered in Ora-Pwoyo Sub- County in Omoro District on Wednesday morning.

This comes after the lifeless body of Charles Ojok, 53, a resident of Oriang B Village, Oriang Parish, Ora-pwoyo Sub- County was discovered by residents to be lying by the road side in Corner Gula Trading Centre on the really morning (around 6:00 am) of Wednesday December 11, 2024.

Richard Alima, the Chairman L.C.3 of Lalogi Sub- County (a close neighbouring subcounty) confirmed the incidence on visiting the scene saying that the deceased was discovered to have had deep cuts and severe injuries on his head-that brings a suspect of murder by either a mob or some dangerous/armed person.

“The deceased’s body was discovered lying on the road side by the locals this morning. It had a lot of deep cuts on the head and it is suspected that perhaps some mob must have beaten the deceased to death,” Alima said.

Alima however revealed that they had contacted the Police Criminal Investigation Department of Omoro CPS that had visited the scene and carried away the body of the deceased for post-mortem and further investigations.

He added that the deceased was a renowned bicycle repairer in Gula Trading Centre.

Alima also said that it is not the first time such a gruesome criminal murder, and they have two other similar cases where a young man and an old woman were murdered in a period of one year and six months respectively.

However, David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson said that his office has received a hint to that suspected murder, but they are still waiting for the full detail from the office of the District Police Commander who is yet to avail.

By Press time on Wednesday evening, the police had not yet avail us with the details regarding the murder suspicion.
