Jinja, (UG):- The Forum for Democratic Party fraternity is mourning the former member of parliament for Kagoma County in Busoga region, Dr Frank Nabwiso who died Saturday morning at Mukono Hospital. He was 84.
“It is true your friend has died from Mukono Hospital today. He died at around 10 am,” the widow, Ms Christine Kagoya Nabwiso said in a brief telephone interview this morning.
According to the widow, the veteran FDC politician has been in hospital for about a month undergoing treatment for Pneumonia.
Mr Ibrahim Ndoga, a member of the FDC National Publicity Committee said Dr Nabwiso was planning to restore the lost support for FDC in the Busoga sub-region after the opposition party split.
Dr Nabwiso who has been a member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change Party (FDC) Elders’ Council is survived by nine children, three of whom are adopted including Matthew Nabwiso and Jonathan Nabwiso, both of whom are popular names in the film industry.

Dr Nabwiso, widely respected for his intellect and dedication to public service, served as the Member of Parliament for Kagoma County in Jinja District from 2001 to 2006. He was unseated in 2006 by Fredrick Nkayi in a highly contested race.
In 2021, Dr Nabwiso contested as the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flagbearer for the Jinja City mayoral seat. Despite a spirited campaign, he came in second to National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Peter Kasolo Okocha.
At the time of his death, Dr Nabwiso was a member of the FDC’s special Elders’ Council and was instrumental in resolving internal party disputes, most notably chairing the committee that investigated allegations by Dr Kizza Besigye regarding FDC leadership’s receipt of government campaign funds for the 2021 general elections.
His report ultimately cleared top party officials Nathan Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Amuriat of any wrongdoing.
