Doha, (Qatar):- Real Madrid and Brazil forward Vinícius Júnior has been crowned Men’s Player of the Year at the 2023 FIFA Best Awards, held in Doha, Qatar, on December 17.
The 24-year-old’s performances during the 2023-24 season, where he helped Real Madrid secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles, earned him the honor.
Vinícius scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success.
This is the first time Vinícius has won the FIFA Best Award, a notable achievement after he and Real Madrid boycotted the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony, where Manchester City’s Rodri claimed the prize.
The FIFA Best Award, which spans from August 2023 to August 2024, is decided by a mix of public votes, journalists, and national team captains and managers, each group contributing 25% to the final tally.
The Ballon d’Or and Fifa Best Awards are the two most prestigious in football.
At the same awards ceremony, Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí was named Women’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive time while Vini’s gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti won the Coach of the Year award after leading his side to domestic and continental glory.
