Minister Ogwang appointed PLU Coordinator in Teso Region

Katakwi, (UG):- The Minister of State for Sports and Member of Parliament for Ngariam county in Katakwi district, Hon Peter Ogwang Ogwang has been appointed the Patriotic League of Uganda Coordinator in the Teso subregion.

Ogwang was appointed along with seven others who include MP Aeko Patrick ( Soroti county)  assistant coordinator, Richard Elimu secretary, Mrs. Akol Zipora publicity, Hon. Amongin Jacqueline women council, Okwii Michael Opepo elders council, Ms. Amulo Emilly Sheila youth and Mr.Ojaman Simon Peter for persons with disabilities.

The development was confirmed by PLU Secretary General, Hon David Kabanda in a letter dated Tuesday, 17th December 2024, in which he expressed PLU’s confidence in the dedication and commitment of the appointed individuals to the values of patriotism and combating corruption and wastage public resources.

“We envisage this team significantly contribution to our efforts in engaging the mobilizing the citizenry in Teso sub region towards transformation in socioeconomic development”, Kabanda, who is also the Kasambya county member of parliament wrote.

Ogwang in his acceptance message for the position said there is nothing wrong with the appointment and he has no objection for the assignment and was happy for the trust from PLU top leadership.

“We shall work as a team for he achievements of PLU and we shall disseminate the PLU agenda to the grassroots,” Minister Ogwang said, adding that the immediate assignment he has is to establish district coordination teams in every district in Teso and ensure President Museveni scores over 95% of the valid votes.

“What NRM has done is felt by all sense in the body of a human being and to appreciate this, we the leadership of PLU in Teso have to intensify mobilization by sowing the seed of patriotism,” he emphasized.

Ziporrah’s Akol, the political assistant to Speaker Anita Among expressed readiness to work deligently with other members for the good of PLU.

PLU was  unveiled on February 7, 2024, by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor on special operations and Chief of Defense Forces.

The PLU is currently establishing formal structures, including a Central Committee and leadership at sub-regional and district levels and it remains to be seen if the group will have candidates contesting in the 2026 general elections.
