Omedi, Ssekiganda out of Cranes Squad to face Burundi in CHAN Qualifier

Kampala, (UG):- Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has announced a provisional squad of 26 players for next week’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 Qualifier against Burundi, with notable omissions including Denis Omedi and Ronald Ssekiganda.

The two-legged encounter, scheduled for December 26 and 29, 2024, will take place at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

While Uganda, alongside Kenya and Tanzania, has already secured its spot in the tournament as hosts, the match against Burundi is crucial as East Africa competes for the fourth and final slot.

Coach Put has selected a squad featuring key players from clubs across Uganda.The team will begin non-residential training on December 21, ahead of entering full camp on December 25 at Nob View Hotel.

The CHAN 2024 tournament will be held between February 1-28, 2025, with Uganda aiming for a strong performance as hosts.

The CHAN (African Nations Championship), known for sponsorship purposes as the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship is a biennial African association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since 2009 and first announced in September 2007.

The participating nations must consist of players playing in their national league competitions.
