Kampala, (UG):- In a remarkable achievement for Uganda’s hospitality industry, Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort has been awarded a coveted Five-Star rating by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).
The exercise, conducted between June and August 2024, assessed facilities based on compliance with the Uganda Tourism (Classification of Accommodation Facilities and Restaurants) Regulations under Statutory Instrument No. 82 of 2014.
At the pinnacle of excellence, Speke Resort Munyonyo emerged as the sole Five-Star facility in the country. Ms Lilly Ajarova, UTB’s Chief Executive Officer, commended the resort for attaining this prestigious status, emphasizing its role in positioning Uganda as a preferred tourist destination.
“Following this exercise, the Board takes this opportunity to congratulate Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Limited, for attaining a Five (5) star rating. UTB appreciates your efforts towards maintaining quality hospitality standards as we position Uganda as a preferred tourist destination,” Mr Ajarova wrote in a congratulatory letter dated December 18, 2024.
The ratings also recognized notable Four-Star establishments including; Hilton Garden Inn, Hotel Africana, and Four Points by Sheraton Kampala, while popular lodges such as Arcadia Lodges and Mahogany Springs Luxury Lodge earned high marks in the Three-Star category.
In addition to hotels and lodges, other unique accommodations such as Adrift River Camp and Banana Village Eco Retreat were recognized for their contributions to Uganda’s growing tourism sector.
