Kampala, (UG):- The City Hall Court in Kampala has charged and remanded to Luzira prison four men accused of killing Tugume Albert Cook Apuuli, the brother to Kampala deputy lord mayor, Doreen Nyanjura and Barnabas Sabiti, a boda boda cyclist in a mobile money raid in Ntinda last month.

The suspects identified as Jimmy Mutagubya, 27, a boda boda rider; Bosco Kayemba Salongo, 47, a builder; Hamza Suuna Mutebi, 30, a businessman and Marvin Makanga, 27, unemployed were arrested nearly a month after the November 21 tragic shooting in which they killed Tugume, a mobile money operator and the boda boda cyclist who had come to rescue him.

The quartet was arraigned before Grade One Magistrate, Nicholas Aisu who read to them the charges of murder, aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit murder.

“This court can only read the charges against you but you are not allowed to plead because the offences are capital in nature. This court has no jurisdiction to handle this case. You are hereby remanded to Luzira prison,” the presiding magistrate read.

Court heard from State Prosecution that Mutagubya, Kayemba and others still at large on November 21, 2024 at Kiwatule Central Zone in the Kampala District, robbed Tugume of his bag containing an unspecified amount of money and mobile banking gadgets.

The group and others still at large with malice aforethought unlawfully caused the death of Tugume and Sabiti and further conspired to rob and kill Tugume and Sabiti.

The four suspects were remanded until January 14, 2025, when they are expected to return to court for further mention of their case.

Relatedly, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Friday appealed to the public to provide any information regarding the whereabouts of three key suspects who are still at large. The trio are; Hussein Kabuye; Joseph Bambaiha, alias Fire and Martin Lukenge.

“We appeal to the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of these suspects still on the run. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police through the following numbers:0743343413, 0741111333 and 0786 536296. Alternatively, reports can be made at the nearest police station,” the KMP deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said in a December 20 police statement.
