Mbale, (UG);- The Umukuka III of the Bamasaba people, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma is set to attend the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the 45th and 47th President of the United States this January.
This announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Bamasaba Cultural Institution, Mr. Steven Masiga, during a press briefing held at the institution’s offices early this week. Mr. Masiga said that the Umukuka III will represent all African kings during the prestigious event.
In addition to attending the inauguration, the Umukuka is scheduled to address the United Nations (UNO) and UNESCO on matters concerning cultural preservation.
His address will focus on soliciting support for the preservation of cultural sites within his kingdom.

The Bamasaba Cultural Institution, operating under the umbrella organization Inzu Ya Masaba, spans districts such as Bududa, Namisindwa, Mbale City, Mbale District, Sironko, Bulambuli, and Manafwa in Uganda, as well as Bungoma County and Trans Nzoia (Kitale) in Kenya. It also includes subjects in neighbouring regions, such as Teso and Samia communities, explained Mr Masiga.
The Umukuka III was officially gazetted last year in line with the Cultural Leaders Act 2011, the Constitution of Uganda (Article 246), the Local Government Act, and the National Cultural Policy 2019.
The Bamasaba people, numbering over 15 million across Kenya, Uganda, and the diaspora, form a vibrant cultural community according to the institution’s statistics.
During his visit to the United States, the Umukuka III will also meet notable individuals, including Professor Florence Wakoko of Columbus State University and Dr. Stephen Mungoma, among others, to foster cultural and academic collaborations.
