Bulambuli, (UG):- The Inzu Ya Masaba Cultural Institution has confirmed receiving a significant donation of items worth over Shs 100 million from Sino Industrial Park in Mbale to support victims of the recent landslides in Bulambuli District.
The donation, which includes essential household and personal items, was handed over to the cultural institution and distributed to the affected communities.
Steven Masiga, the spokesperson for Inzu Ya Masaba, confirmed the receipt of the items, which included; 200 mattresses, 50 T-shirts, 80 bed sheets, 200 jean trousers, 400 play mats, 70 bed sheets, 10 boxes of sanitary pads, and 200 pieces of Bitenge fabric, among others
“The items were donated to the landslide survivors through Inzu Ya Masaba following a formal request to the management of Sino Industrial Park in Mbale. We are delivering them to our people in Bulambuli today without fail. On behalf of the Bamasaba cultural institution, I thank the management of the Chinese industrial park for this generous gesture,” said Masiga.
The donations were made possible by contributions from various factories within Sino Industrial Park, including Grace Form Company, Soft Care Company, Wenway Company, Boi Company, Grace Mats Company, Xinilong Company, Rongshen Company, Grace Textile Company, Fascen Company, and Wekom Company.
Masiga emphasized the ongoing need for more support: “Anyone familiar with Oliver Twist knows we still need more help. Other companies should join this noble effort and not leave it solely to Sino Industrial Park and Inzu Ya Masaba.”
The distribution of items was prioritized for vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and others in dire need. Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude, with smiles evident as they received new bedding and clothing.
Among the beneficiaries were PWDs like Nambozo Oliver of Namisuni, Namono Grace, Wolayo Eliza of Buluganya, and Nabutuwa, who extended their thanks to the Umukuka and the Chinese contributors.
The distribution effort, which reached over 2,000 residents from more than ten sub-counties, was overseen by the Umukuka III, the Disaster Committee, and UPDF soldiers attached to the cultural institution.
Masiga confirmed that all items were safely distributed to the beneficiaries, adding, “The affected communities can now sleep with dignity, thanks to this support. We urge more stakeholders to step in and continue this good work.”
