HOIMA: 16 teams to compete in Kabuleta X-mas Cup 2024

Hoima, (UG):- The Kabuleta X-mas Cup, an annual football tournament organized by National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) President Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta Monday launched in Hoima promising to bring together 16 teams from the oil city’s sub-counties.

The official launch, held at Kolping Hotel in Hoima City, attracted local sports leaders and officials including Mr. Dema Gabriel, Chairman DFA, Capt. Jeff, Spokesperson, among others.

Addressing the press at the function, Kabuleta, a former sports journalist turned politician expressed his gratitude and called on the people of Bunyoro to unite and fight for their rights.

He highlighted the significance of the tournament, emphasizing its role as a longstanding community tradition in the region. “This tournament will not only remain a tradition in Bunyoro but will expand to include the entire region and eventually the whole country,” Kabuleta said.

The NEED Party boss revealed that teams in this tourney will compete in brand-new kits, adding a touch of pride and excitement to the competition.

“The Kabuleta X-mas Cup is a vibrant celebration of community spirit and football excellence, bringing together 16 teams from Hoima’s sub-counties. Each team, proudly sporting brand-new kits, is ready to showcase their talent and passion for the game. The event remains steadfastly non-partisan and community-driven, centred on the pure love of football,” he said.

Mr. Ali Babi, Director of the Programme, praised Kabuleta’s efforts in transforming the region, urging the people of Bunyoro to rally behind their leader’s mission to uplift the area through sports and community engagement.
