Mbale, (UG):- The Umukuka III, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, has appealed to well-wishers to step in and extend support to the survivors of landslides in Bulambuli.
So far, the Inzu Ya Masaba has officially received funding and material support from friends and well-wishers, which have been safely delivered to the Bulambuli landslide survivors.
The spokesperson for Inzu Ya Masaba, Mr. Steven Masiga, told DailyExpress that, so far, the Chinese community has supported the cause with items worth 100 million shillings, which were delivered on Sunday.
Additionally, Welsh friends contributed about 8 million shillings, and Cure Mbale donated 500,000 shillings to help purchase sanitary pads for young girls.
Mr Masiga has now appealed to organizations and individuals to step in and assist through Inzu Ya Masaba, serving as a central distribution unit as guided by public authorities.
“We appeal to Commissioner Barnabas Rubanza of Uganda Police, Mr. Mubarak of the Shopping Centre Mbale, Mr. Richard Mataya of Abrah Shopping Centre, Justice Cheberion Bariashaki, Justice Mutonyi, and the Kenyan Bamasaba, as well as the leadership of the Somali and Indian communities in Mbale,” he said.
Support is also sought from companies such as MTN Uganda, Nile Breweries, and all factories in Tororo dealing in cement, and Coca-Cola, among others, as well as banks like Stanbic Bank and Centenary Bank.
The affected families number in the thousands, including many persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, and the elderly, who are in dire need of assistance.
Meanwhile, the Umukuka III has appealed to the Government to properly resettle people displaced by landslides across Bugisu.
The Disaster Committee is composed of the following members: Hon. Woboya, Hon. Irene Khainza, Hon. Priscilla, Hon. Watulatsu, and the spokesperson for Inzu Ya Masaba, Mr. Steven Masiga.
