Pallisa, (UG):- The former Agule County Member of Parliament, Hon. Polycarp Ogwari whom the court ejected in March 2024 in favour of Hon. David Ochwa’s petition has vowed to contest again for the same constituency starting from NRM primaries in 2025
Ogwari said one hopeful aspirant who wants to contest in Agule County by names of Sam Otukol aka Samix is circulating false information on Radio talk shows lying to people that he is not going to compete for the Agule County seat in Pallisa District.
“I want to be very particular on my brother Hon. Otukol Samix the Pallisa county member of parliament who has run away from Pallisa after failing to fulfil a handful of his pledges and is now ever on Aisa FM radio in Ngora and UBC telling people he is coming to rescue Agule from incompetent leaders and that I Ogwari will not contest,” Ogwari said in an interview with DailyExpress.
“Please ask him where I sat with him to agree on that allegation. Otukol cannot even seek audience in any of the trading centers in Pallisa because the people who mandated him to represent them in parliament are not happy for his betrayal,” he added.
Ogwari said people are being misled that he doesn’t have the necessary qualifications which is why the Court of Appeal threw him out of parliament, the reality is “Court gave its ruling based on the fact that I delayed submitting my defence within the specified time and declared Ochwa a winner, the judgement is very clear.”
“However much Agule needs a change we can no longer accept people from other counties to come and meddle us here. Otukol’s father Mr Okello Zedekia (RIP) had two homes and Otukol was allocated land in Kamuge in Pallisa County he thinks people don’t know that,” he emphasized.
“Just for reference, Arthur Moody Awori who was a minister in Kenya was a brother to Aggrey Awori of Busia Uganda but they respected the land allocation of their father who had portions in both Uganda and Kenya.”
Ogwari said whoever has interest in Agule County seat must tell people his or her intentions but not make a manifesto because people will definitely know it’s politics of intrigue.
“Those who say am not educated are going to reap shame during renomination for NRM party primaries, what annoys me is the suspension of my planned activities in my manifesto for Agule county as I was cut mid-term”, Ogwari noted.
During the last district council meeting of this calendar year held on Thursday, Mr Okia Patrick the assistant RDC in his address to the councilors highlighted that all the hopeful candidates for Agule County are going to be met by the security committee following the tension they are breeding which is most likely to lead to death given the threats.
“As the office of the RDC we cannot allow manageable individuals to spark chaos. All other counties of Kibale, Pallisa and Gogonyo have people who want to contest but they respect the law and are waiting for the real-time given the roadmap but Agule has hopeful aspirants whom I will unkindly say they are undisciplined and imagine they are above”, Okia said.
Ibaseret said she is currently serving as deputy RDC and is waiting for the appropriate time to come and beg for votes.
“Whoever wants to contest has where he or she is working I appeal to them to concentrate on their current offices rather than coming to have out Agule county mistaken to be of chaotic people”, John Okanya, a resident of Agule town council said.
Those who are interested in Agule NRM primaries include Mr Okello Okudel Herbert, Ms Ibaseret Josephine, Mr Okiring Patrick Hon. Ogwari Polycarp and incumbent Hon. Ochwa David.
Yusuf Edakasi said Otukol came to Agule trickily thinking people don’t understand his politics of deceit. “Otukol came knowing that the law doesn’t allow campaigns now but he entered churches disguising himself as helping in church construction when he was halted he took it as an advantage in his talk shows. Let him buy gomesis for Pallisa county women before he comes to Agule,” Edakasi said.
Sam Okiring one of Ogwari’s diehards said Agule is missing a leader who was vibrant in parliament, did oversight roles well as he shook Pallisa General Hospital and also promoted sports.
