Mukono, (UG):- The retired third Bishop of Mukono Diocese, Rt. Rev. Elia Paul Luzinda Kizito has raised concerns over behaviours that do not glorify God, including gossiping, pursuing same-sex relationships, and prioritizing material pursuits over spiritual responsibilities.
Rev Kizito emphasized the need for Christians to focus on their spiritual obligations rather than fleeting pleasures or worldly gain.
The Emeritus Bishop made these remarks during a thanksgiving service for Rev. Deacon Ronald Musoke, who serves as a legal officer for the Diocese of Mukono and ministers at Nama Church of Uganda, Kisowera Parish under Bukoba Archdeaconry. The service also featured the baptism of over eight children, marking their initiation into the Christian faith.
In his sermon, Bishop Luzinda warned against the growing trend of indulging in ungodly acts for the sake of job security or material wealth. He urged church leaders and elders to implement the teachings they received, reminding them of their divine calling and God’s faithfulness in their service.
Similarly, the recently retired fourth Bishop of Mukono, The Rt. Rev. James William Ssebaggala, commended Rev. Ronald Musoke for his humility, dedication, and faithfulness. He encouraged believers to remain steadfast in the ministries to which God has called them, regardless of challenges.
At the same function, the baptism ceremony, led by Ven. Canon Edward Balamaze Kironde, the Archdeacon of Seeta, emphasized the spiritual responsibilities of parents and godparents. Canon Kironde highlighted the importance of fulfilling vows made on behalf of the children, cautioning against focusing on financial benefits at the expense of spiritual nurturing.
Dr. Livingston Ssewanyana, the Deputy Chancellor of the Diocese of Mukono and Executive Director of the Foundation of Human Rights Initiative (FHRI), urged Christians to support the construction of a new cathedral.
He invited everyone to participate in the upcoming Marathon Run, scheduled for the following day, to be led by Mukono Diocese Bishop Rt Rev Enos Kitto Kagodo.
The sermon concluded with speeches from Rev. Ronald Musoke and his wife, Florence, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to supporters and mentors, especially Rev. John Musoke of Kisowera Parish, for his guidance and encouragement.
