First Son Muhoozi to host first-ever Rastafari Conference in Kampala

Kampala, (UG):- Uganda’s First Son and Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kanirugaba has announced plans to host the first-ever Rastafari Conference in Kampala come 2026.

Gen Kainuragaba, who is also the National Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda announced this in a post on his official X handle expressing his love for the Rastafari in America whom he called his brothers. 

“To all my black brothers in the Americas. I want to say we love you very much. In 2026, I’m going to call the first Rastafari Conference in Kampala” Muhoozi posted. 

“I will put Hon.@BalaamAteenyiDr in charge of that project. The International Rastafari Conference must take place in 2026!” He said in another post on Sunday afternoon.

Reacting to the responsibility assigned to him, Dr Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, who is also State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs and an Executive Member of PLU’s Governing council thanked General Muhoozi for entrusting him with this conference and pledged to invite Ziggy Marley, Lucky Dube’s families to attend.

“Thank you my supreme leader General @mkainerugaba for entrusting me with the incredible opportunity to lead The International Rastafari Conference in 2026. I’m deeply grateful for the confidence you’ve shown in me, Supreme Leader,” Dr Balaam, known for his public praise of the First Son posted.

“I pledge to work tirelessly with the entire Rastafari community to ensure this event is a monumental success. I’m thrilled to confirm that Ziggy Marley, Lucky Dube’s family, and all top Rastafari artists will be in attendance. Thank you again, General @mkainerugaba, for this honour. I won’t let you down.” he added.

The Rastafari conference, according to the First Son will feature presentations from members of the Rastafari community, scholars, researchers, and students. The conference will also include lectures, panels, discussions, exhibitions, and cultural presentations.
