Bugisu Sub-region, (UG);- The New Year, 2025 is expected to have a lot of political activities in preparation for the general elections in 2026. With the 2024 National Population and Housing Census statistics revealing that more than 70% of the Ugandan population is young, they will certainly have an impact in the coming general elections.

Emma Bwayo the Namisindwa District Youth Councilor says that young people should vie for political positions to enable them to be part of the decision-making processes.

According to Bwayo, many young people are reduced to fighting wars and engaging in acts of political violence; something which they will not tolerate this time.

Kevin Yoweri Wobaira the Sironko District Youth Chairperson says that since the young people are the majority, there is a need for them to take up political positions at various levels so as to add a voice to the issues that affect the young population.

Zanubiya Namutamba the National Unity Platform General Secretary for Mbale City says despite the fact that young people will be a key determinant in the upcoming general elections, there is need for them to stand up for their rights and resist acts of intimidation so as to have proper representation at all levels.

Gershom Sizomu Wambede the former Member of Parliament for Bungokho North constituency in Mbale District has asked young people to select and support leaders who will bring drastic change in their communities.
