Lira City, (UG):- Seven people have been arrested in connection to the malicious damage and assault of Lango local musician, Walter Ogwang popular as Lil Square.
The suspects include Isaac Jackson Awio aged 28 years old, a businessman dealing in scraps and a resident of Obutuwelo ‘B’ cell, Obutuwelo ward, Lira-City West Division, Odyeny Erick aged 28 years old a manager of Heavens Hotel, bouncer, resident of Ireda Lumumba cell, Ireda East Ward, Lira-City East Division, Arok David alias Rock aged 38 years old a bouncer and a resident of Kakooge B cell, Kakooge ward, Lira-City West Division and Acai Bonny alias k29 aged 25 years old a resident of Alito camp cell, Ojwina ward, Lira-City West Division.
Others are Okumu Ronald aged 34 years old a bodaboda rider/ bouncer, resident of Anai cell, Anai ward, Lira-City West Division, Omara Ambrose alias Omara Odokomit aged 27 years old, a resident of Odokomit ward Lira-City West Division and Okoo Elvis aged 24 years old a bouncer,/produce dealer, a resident of Wiodyek cell, Amach Town Council, Lira District.
Preliminary report indicates on the 3rd of January 2025, the suspects assaulted Lil Square and damaged his car registration number UBK 546Z within Lira City in a video that went viral on social media.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga regional police spokesperson said all the suspects are in police cells at Lira-City CPS.
“They are in our cell pending statement recordings and compilation of the files for onward submission to RCSA, for perusal and legal advice before producing them to court,” Okema said.
He added that the suspects arrested, including bouncers, participated in the commission of the crime last week in Lira City.
Details gathered indicate that tension began between the musician, Lil Square and his former manager, Isaac Awio, who recently accused the musician of breaching a contract they had made.
Awio has been on local media claiming that he would do harm on Lil Square if he [Lil Square] failed to pay him [Awio]the money he owed him.
However, It didn’t take long after his Statement when bouncers loyal to him allegedly attacked Lil Square on Obote Avenue in Lira City.
Police said investigations are still ongoing to establish facts behind the assault and attack, and that the suspects will be arraigned before courts of law to stand trial for the alleged charges.
