Kaliro, (UG):- Gadumire Grounds in Bulamogi, Kaliro District Saturday witnessed a transformative event as SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) unveiled a mega empowerment package aimed at boosting livelihoods and eradicating poverty among the President Museveni’s Bazzukulu.
The empowerment initiative, which aligns with the government’s broader vision of socioeconomic transformation, saw a wide array of tools and equipment given out to the Bazzukulu to start or expand small businesses, empowering them to increase household incomes and contribute to economic growth.
Among the items distributed included hair dryers, automobile toolkits, sewing machines, and hand hoes, chapati and chips-making machines, popcorn machines, hand sprayers, among others.
Addressing thousands of the youth and women who gathered at Gadumire Grounds, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the significance of wealth creation programs, which are central to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s commitment to community development. She lauded Hon. Brenda Namukuta, the Kaliro District Woman MP, for her proactive role in lobbying for the equipment and her dedication to improving the lives of her constituents.
“Your Honorable Woman MP has done a great job for you people. She reached out to me and asked that we bring wealth creation items to you as a sample ahead of the Presidential visit, which is due next week,” Hajjat Namyalo remarked.
Additionally, Hajjat assured residents that while the items delivered were just a sample of the wealth creation package President Museveni has prepared at hand, more tools and equipment would be delivered in the future. She therefore encouraged the wanainchi (citizens) to actively engage in wealth creation programs during the President’s upcoming visit to maximize their impact.
The District Woman MP, Hon. Brenda Namukuta expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the ONC Manager and President Museveni for prioritizing the empowerment of youth and women. She urged beneficiaries to use the tools responsibly to uplift their standards of living and contribute to Kaliro’s economic growth.
“This initiative is not just about receiving tools; it’s about creating opportunities for each one of us to better our lives. Let’s make the most of this chance,” Hon. Namukuta, who is eyeing a second stint as the district woman representative told the gathering.
The locals who received the items hailed the ONC Empowerment program as a timely intervention to address challenges like unemployment and low household incomes. Many pledged to put the equipment received to good use, expressing optimism about the program’s potential to transform their lives.
“The tools we’ve received today will help us create a steady income. We are grateful to the ONC and the government for remembering us,” said one of the beneficiaries.
Earlier in the day, district leaders, including LC5 Chairperson Elijah Kagoda Dhikusoka and RDC Aggrey Frederick Bangu, presented several concerns facing the district to Hajjat Namyalo. These included the lack of a district hospital, poor road infrastructure, and the absence of seed schools in some sub-counties.
In response, Hajjat Namyalo promised to raise these pressing issues with her appointing authority (Jajja) and assured the residents that during President Museveni’s visit to the Busoga region next week, these concerns would be reiterated to ensure a solution is crafted.
“This is just the beginning,” Hajjat Namyalo affirmed. “We will continue to listen to your concerns and push for the resources and solutions that you need.”
The Kaliro Empowerment event ended on a high note, with a thrilling performance by renowned rapper Gravity Omutujju, who energized the massive crowd with his electrifying stage presence. His performance turned the event into a celebration, with attendees dancing and cheering as they embraced the spirit of empowerment.
This empowerment initiative is part of the ONC’s ongoing effort to uplift communities across Uganda through practical interventions, reinforcing grassroots support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM). As the ONC continues to deliver such impactful programs, the hope for a more prosperous Uganda remains strong.
