Missing Ntinda woman found hiding in Kiteezi, cites domestic abuse by husband

Kampala, (UG):- Uganda Police Monday confirmed that a 29-year-old woman who went missing for nearly a month has been found in good health after disappearing from her matrimonial home in Ntinda-Kigowa, Nakawa Division, Kampala.

Natukunda Sharon, a housewife and resident of Kigowa 1, Bukoto II Parish in Nakawa, went missing on December 16, 2024, prompting her parents to file a disappearance report at the Ntinda Police Station to trace the whereabouts of their daughter.

Following the report, police launched an investigation until Monday, January 13, 2025, when a breakthrough led to her recovery from a village in Kitezi Parish, Kasangati Division, Wakiso District.

“Investigation to trace her where about commenced. Today January 13, 2025, at around 11:50 hrs information was received that the victim was sighted at Kabaga -Kayanga a village in Kitezi parish Kasangati division in Wakiso district,” a police statement read on Monday evening.

Upon being located, Sharon led the police to where she was staying, approximately 200 meters from the chairman’s office.

During an interview with police, she revealed that her disappearance was a result of domestic violence perpetrated by her husband.

“In our interview with her, she attributes her disappearance to domestic violence perpetuated by the husband. We have conveyed her to the hospital for medical attention,” police said.

Police expressed concern over the issue of domestic violence and have emphasized their commitment to addressing such cases, and said authorities are continuing their efforts to ensure Sharon’s safety as well as offering the necessary support to her and others in similar situations.
