Victoria University Kampala (VU), a leading private chartered university in Uganda, has announced a job opportunity for the position of Human Resource Manager seeking a highly competent individual to join its senior management team.
The institution, known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology-driven programs, seeks a Human Resource Manager who will report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Business Development).
According to the job advert posted via its official social media platforms, VU said the Human Resource Manager will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, and implementing HR systems and processes aligned with the university’s strategic goals and the laws of Uganda.
This position, VU said, is ideal for candidates who excel in leadership, strategic thinking, and fostering a productive work environment.
Among the responsibilities for the HR position at VU will include but not limited to;
- Recruitment and staff onboarding.
- Performance management and staff evaluations.
- Training and capacity building programs.
- Compliance with labor laws and university regulations.
- Discipline, grievance handling, payroll, and benefits management.
- Development and utilization of HR information systems.
- Exit management and fostering a positive work culture.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional HR qualification is an added advantage. Proficiency in HR systems and MS Office tools is also required.
Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in administrative and human resource roles, with at least four years at a senior managerial level in a reputable organization.
VU emphasized that it is seeking a candidate with strong leadership and organizational skills, decision-making ability, and excellent interpersonal communication. Additional traits like confidentiality, attention to detail, and knowledge of labor laws are essential for the role.
