Why Umukuka appointed Museveni’s top advisor Davis Mwenyi to Bukuka Cabinet

Mbale, (UG):- The Umukuka III of Inzu Ya Masaba His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma recently appointed Mr. Davis Mwenyi as one of the Deputy Prime Ministers in the Inzu Ya Masaba establishment.

The Umukuka is mandated by the Cultural Leaders Act to assemble eminent Bamasaba and other qualified individuals whom he believes are competent enough to help him serve his subjects effectively.

As the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Hon. Davis Mwenyi is expected to work closely with various clans in Masabaland. His responsibilities include educating the clans on a series of government programs targeted at them.

Additionally, he is tasked with creating a link between the clans and the government, sensitizing them about the relevance of these programs.

As a policy expert, the Deputy PM is well-positioned to explain the government’s intentions in crafting various poverty alleviation programs and how the clans can leverage these initiatives to overcome poverty.

In his central government deployment, Hon Mwenyi serves as an Assistant Commissioner in the Office of the President, where he is responsible for scrutinizing all government policies. He also supports various ministers and ministries in policy analysis and implementation. He previously worked as a district planner for both Mbale and Manafwa Districts at different intervals.

One of his former political supervisors, Mr. Bernard Mujasi now a senior presidential advisor on Bugisu affairs praised him, describing him as incorruptible and deeply knowledgeable about his responsibilities.

This sentiment is shared by both the Bamasaba in Uganda and abroad who have had the privilege of working with Hon. Mwenyi.

Hon. Mwenyi boasts an impressive academic background. He holds two Master’s degrees and is currently nearing the completion of his PhD program at the Uganda Management Institute. His Ph.D. thesis explores the nexus between public policy analysis and governance.

He also holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Makerere University, specifically from the Faculty of Economics, Department of Public Policy, along with several postgraduate diplomas.

According to Mr. Steven Masiga, the spokesperson for Inzu Ya Masaba, Hon. Mwenyi is highly knowledgeable in statecraft and deontology. He possesses the necessary skills and cultural expertise to mobilize the clans and ensure they benefit from various government programs targeting Masabaland.
