Mbale, (UG):- The Inzu Yamasaba Prime Minister, Dr Paul Mwambu will lead a delegation of Bamasaba ministers and other community members to Bungoma, Kenya, to represent Umukuka III at the burial of Prof. George Fungo Chenge in Bungoma on Friday, January 24, 2025.
This was confirmed by Inzu Yamasaba spokesperson, Mr. Steven Masiga in a brief statement to DailyExpress.
Prof. Fungo, a Kenyan national of Ugandan descent, served as the Chairman of the Babutu Clan of both Kenya and Uganda.
He was also a respected history professor at Nairobi and Moi universities. Prof. Fungo will be laid to rest on Saturday in Bungoma County.
In a message of condolence, the Bamasaba cultural leader Umukuka Jude Mike Mudoma III who is currently in the United States, expressed sympathy to the Fungo family, praying for their strength during this difficult time.
Hon. Irene Khainza Manghali has been assigned by PM Dr Mwambu to handle all travel arrangements, including clearance at the Lwakhakha and Kenya border points.
Mr Bosco Otim, the Elgon Regional Police Commander said he has been briefed on the travel plans, as confirmed by Mr Masiga.
