Lango, (UG):- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to visit the Lango sub-region this week to assess the progress of wealth creation and the Parish Development Model (PDM) programmes in northern Uganda.
The visit, which kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, is part of the President’s countrywide zonal tours, aimed at strengthening the government’s initiatives to improve livelihoods across the country.
The Presidential Press Unit confirmed the development in a press release dated Monday, January 27, 2025.
“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) wishes to inform the public that this week, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. (rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will tour the Lango sub-region as part of his countrywide zonal tours focused on wealth creation and PDM assessment,” the statement read in part.
The tour will feature a variety of activities, including visits to selected farmers to assess the implementation and impact of wealth-creation programs in the region. Additionally, the President will officially launch the Presidential Zonal Industrial Hub, an initiative aimed at spurring industrial growth and providing employment opportunities for local communities.
The tour will conclude with a public rally where the President will engage with the community and outline ongoing government initiatives, particularly focused on wealth creation.
The emphasis of the assessment tours according to the Presidency is to emphasize the Four-Acre Model, Parish Development Model, Emyooga and other Government livelihood Programmes as proven avenues for wealth creation among the wanainchi.
The President’s tour comes at a time when the government is doubling its efforts to deliver on promises of socio-economic transformation, especially in rural areas, through programs such as Operation Wealth Creation and the Parish Development Model.
The Lango sub-region, known for its agricultural potential, is expected to benefit significantly from the initiatives that will be discussed and implemented during the President’s visit.
