Bugisu parents urged to prioritize education as new school term approaches

Sironko, (UG):- Parents across the Bugisu sub-region have been urged to prepare adequately for the new academic term starting on 2nd February 2025.

This call was made by Budadiri West MP, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, while addressing mourners at the burial of Leonard Waniale, the uncle of Rev. Jackson Magombe, Director of Operations in the Office of the MP for Budadiri West.

Nandala, who also serves as the Chairman of Bugisu Cooperative Union, emphasized that the greatest gift a parent can offer their child is a quality education. He encouraged parents to prioritize education and support one another in ensuring that children receive the best education possible.

The Hon also urged residents to support local schools and education supervisory and inspection boards to enhance monitoring efforts and achieve better academic results, highlighting that success in education requires collective effort.

Rev. Jackson Magombe, who lost his uncle, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during the difficult time. He revealed that the late succumbed to intestinal obstruction and noted with concern that over the past three weeks, they have lost more than three people to similar conditions.

This, Nandala said, has raised serious questions that need answers and solutions from medical professionals.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi, who was the chief mourner, criticized the poor performance of government schools in some regions of the country. He claimed this is a deliberate strategy aimed at isolating and disadvantaging certain regions academically.

Amuriat called on residents to resist this and ensure their children receive quality education to secure a brighter future.
