Tayebwa’s new radio to boost community development in Mitooma

Mitooma, (UG):- The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa Friday opened Tayari 90.4 FM, a new radio station in Bitereko Sub-County, Ruhinda North Constituency, Mitooma District.

The station, established through the Taru Foundation, a local charity based in Mitooma, is aimed at enhancing information access and fostering community development in Mitooma District and Western Uganda at large.

Speaking at the station’s launch on Friday, January 31, 2025, Deputy Speaker Tayebwa noted that Tayari FM will serve as a vital platform for educating and empowering communities on key developmental issues.

“The primary goal of this station is to inform, educate, and uplift our people by providing accurate and relevant information,” Tayebwa said, adding; “I urge local leaders and government officials to use this platform to engage the public on government programs in education, agriculture, health, and other essential sectors.”

The launch event was graced by State Minister for National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, who commended Tayebwa for the initiative, emphasizing that radio remains a powerful tool for grassroots mobilization and development.

With its strategic location and focus on community-driven content, Tayari 90.4 FM is expected to become a leading voice in Western Uganda’s media landscape, giving residents a platform to discuss issues that matter most to them.
