Kampala, (UG):- Victoria University’s Rugby team, “TheSharks” Saturday delivered a commanding performance in their fourth match of the Nile Special Rugby Premier League season, securing a 34-9 victory over the Warriors in an away fixture at Legends Grounds, Lugogo.
Despite a challenging first half, the Sharks turned up the heat in the second half, displaying their strength and resilience to secure the win.
Coming off a tough 28-13 loss to the Black Pirates in their previous game, the Sharks were eager to bounce back.
Though they faced some defensive lapses early on, particularly in their breakdowns, TheSharks managed to regain composure and capitalized on the opportunities presented in the second half.
Key players, including Alema Ruhweza and Humphrey Tashoby, were instrumental in the victory, showing consistency and flashes of brilliance that helped the Sharks dominate after halftime.
Sharks’ Team captain Paul Epillo acknowledged the challenge of playing on a non-familiar pitch, which impacted their scoring opportunities in the first half.
Victoria University’s Head of Sports, Mr. Ssebuliba Patrick, commended the team’s performance, emphasizing their resilience despite a tough challenge from the Warriors in the first half. He acknowledged the game’s high intensity, noting that a few players sustained injuries due to the physical nature of the match.
The victory puts Victoria Sharks back on track, but their focus remains on the next challenge with a crucial match against the Kobs this Saturday, whose outcome will determine their standing in the league as they continue their quest for a top-five finish.
