Kampala, (UG):- Uganda’s iconic Hamz Stadium, a multifaceted football facility owned by businessman Dr Hamis Kiggundu has earned a prestigious nomination in the globally renowned Stadium of the Year Awards, for the year 2024, organized by StadiumDB.com.
Hamz Stadium, the only East African football facility, is set to battle it out with 22 other remarkable venues from across the globe in this year’s competition for the international accolade.
In a statement released Thursday, February 06, 2025, StadiumDB’s representative Jakub Ducki, expressed excitement over the launch of the 2024 awards edition, especially the inclusion of Hamz Stadium, a new modern facility joining this year’s category.

“The competition’s results depend entirely on public votes, which means that the engagement of local communities can make all the difference,” Ducki emphasized, adding; “It’s not always the largest or most expensive stadium that wins it’s the one with the most passionate supporters.”
StadiumDB.com, known for ranking football stadiums in the most reliable way therefore called on Ugandans and supporters of Hamz Stadium to participate actively in the voting process, which is purely online.
