Kampala, (UG):- The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a stern warning to Heads of UCE Centres against falling prey to fraudsters posing as members of its Security Committee as the country waits to confirm the release date of results for the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

In a press statement dated February 7, 2025, Ms Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer at UNEB revealed that con artists are contacting school administrators, claiming that students’ results are at risk of being cancelled due to alleged examination malpractice.

Whereas fraudsters are reportedly demanding money to “resolve” these issues and ensure results are not withheld, Ms Kalule categorically stated that the Board does not engage in such practices.

“It has come to our attention that the masqueraders are calling Heads of centres and School Directors claiming that the results of their candidates are to be cancelled due to suspected involvement in examination malpractice. They accordingly extort money from the unsuspecting School Heads, allegedly to help ensure that their results are not withheld,” Ms Kalule said in a UNEB press statement released Friday morning.

“Please be informed that the Board does NOT operate like that. Where there is a matter of concern, Management will write officially to the affected schools,” she emphasized.

UNEB assured stakeholders that its security team is tracking the perpetrators involved in these schemes.

2024 UCE Results Release Date

Ms Kalule also addressed rumours circulating on various platforms about the release of the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results and clarified that the results will not be released today, February 7, 2025, as had been speculated.

“Regarding the release date, once again, we want to inform the public that the 2024 UCE results shall NOT be released today Friday, February 7th, as has been alleged on some platforms. We ask those concerned to remain calm until the official date is announced. The Board shall communicate the date as soon as we get confirmation from the Ministry of Education and Sports,” she emphasized.

Additionally, UNEB urged Heads of UCE Centres to clear any outstanding invoices to avoid access issues when the results are eventually released and advised school administrators to check their online portals if there are any pending commitments.

“Finally, we wish to ask Heads of UCE Centres to ensure that they settle all outstanding invoices to avoid being inconvenienced by not accessing results at the time of release. Please check your portals to confirm if you have any unresolved commitments with the Board,” Ms Kalule said.

The UNEB spox asked the public to remain vigilant and report any fraudulent activities to the appropriate authorities as UNEB continues to ensure transparency and integrity in the examination process.
