Boda-boda rider, 26, murdered in cold blood in Kibuku

Kibuku (UG):– The Territorial Police in eastern Uganda’s Kibuku District have launched an investigation into a tragic incident of aggravated robbery that has resulted in the death of 26-year-old boda-boda rider Namwoyo Lahamatu.

Namwoyo succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent attack that occurred on February 3, 2025.

According to the police report filed at Tirinyi Police Station under case reference CRB 021/2025, the victim was assaulted by unknown assailants who severely beat him before stealing his motorcycle, a red Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFZ 045B.

The attack took place around 9 PM in the Kataka II zone of the Tirinyi sub-county.

Witnesses reported that Namwoyo was found unconscious following the brutal assault and was immediately transported to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for medical treatment.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries on February 7, 2025.

The incident was reported by Paaya Magidu, a 45-year-old resident of Kataka II zone, who described the shocking nature of the attack. “It was a horrifying scene. We never expected such violence in our community,” Magidu stated.

In response to the incident, local law enforcement has taken several actions: a case file has been opened, the crime scene was visited by officers from the Central Police Station in Kibuku, and the victim’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination as inquiries into the incident continue.
