Kigezi, (UG):- President Museveni will effective tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12th, camp in the Kigezi sub-region on his continued assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other government wealth creation initiatives in the area.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, I will be in Kigezi Sub-region this week to assess the progress of the PDM and also preach the NRM’s wealth creation message,” the President posted in a social media update via his official X account on Tuesday morning.
During the three-day visit, the President will visit PDM Farmers, hold a live media interaction and address a public rally in the sub-region, according to a statement released last week by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU).
The PDM tour in Kigezi will feature a variety of activities, including visits to selected farmers to assess the implementation and impact of wealth-creation programs in the region.
Additionally, the President will officially launch the Regional Zonal Industrial Hub, an initiative aimed at spurring industrial growth and providing employment opportunities for local communities.
The President’s tour comes at a time when the government is doubling its efforts to deliver on promises of socio-economic transformation, especially in rural areas, through programs such as Operation Wealth Creation and the Parish Development Model.
The visit also comes just days after the President recently appointed Deputy Chief Justice Flavian Zeija and Prof Augustus Nuwagaba as Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda, both from Kigezi, a move that political analysts have seen as a score for the President to receive a grand welcome.
