“A Toyota Hiace (UAG 660Q) was intercepted today at Nsangi, carrying over 30 soccer fans/students in a reckless & overcrowded manner with some on top & others hanging out of windows,” Kananura stated in an update on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening.

He added that the driver of the vehicle was immediately arrested and is currently in detention pending court proceedings.

“We strongly condemn such reckless behaviour, as it not only violates traffic laws but also puts lives at risk,” Kananura emphasized.

Traffic authorities have continued to warn against overcrowding and unsafe transportation practices, urging drivers and event organizers to ensure compliance with road safety regulations to prevent potential accidents.

SP Kananura reiterated the force’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws to protect lives on the road and urged the public to report any instances of reckless driving or unsafe transportation to the authorities.
