Uganda Premier League returns in match-day 17 fixture

Kampala, (UG):- The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns with Match-Day 17 this weekend. The action begins today, Saturday, February 15, 2025, with two key fixtures, followed by a packed schedule on Sunday and Monday.

At 4:00 PM, Sports Club Villa will host Express FC in a highly anticipated clash at the Mandela National Stadium on Saturday. Both teams are vying for a top-four spot, making this a must-win game. Later at 7:00 PM, Maroons FC will face URA SC in a mid-table showdown at Luzira Prisons Ground.

Sunday’s action kicks off at 3:00 PM with three simultaneous matches. Lugazi FC will take on Wakiso Giants FC, Bul FC will battle Mbale Heroes FC, and Police FC will lock horns with NEC FC. 

The day’s highlight will be the evening clash at 7:00 PM, where KCCA FC will face league leaders Vipers SC in a top-of-the-table thriller at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

The Match-Day 17 action concludes on Monday with two games. Mbarara City FC will host UPDF FC at 4:00 PM, while Kitara FC will welcome Soltilo Bright Stars FC in another 4:00 PM kickoff.

The weekend’s action follows an exciting Match-Day 16, where NEC FC continued their impressive form with a 1-0 victory over KCCA FC. Enock Ssebagala’s eighth-minute header secured the win, completing a season double for NEC over their landlords. 

The victory propelled NEC to second place in the standings, just one point behind leaders Vipers SC, who remain top with 37 points.

Elsewhere, Mbarara City FC climbed to 10th place after a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Mbale Heroes, thanks to Henry Kitegenyi’s late strike. UPDF and Kitara played out a goalless draw in Bombo, leaving Kitara in eighth place and UPDF in 12th.

Vipers SC lead the pack with 37 points, followed closely by NEC FC on 36 points. KCCA FC remain fourth, 13 points adrift of the leaders, while Mbarara City’s recent form has lifted them to 10th. Mbale Heroes remain rooted to the bottom with just 10 points from 16 games.
