Kampala – The Territorial Police in Kampala conjunction with sister security agencies have arrested 14 notorious criminal suspects following a Monday morning raid in areas of Mutora Zone and Karinabiri II, Bukoto II Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala.
The joint operation, led by Kira Road Police in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), aimed at cracking down on criminal elements accused of mugging pedestrians and snatching phones from both motorists and passersby.
“Today morning, Kira Road Police and other sister agencies thus Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and Internal Security Organisation executed an operation targeting areas of Mutora zone and Karinabiri two in Bukoto two parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala City,” said Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma during a weekly press briefing at Naguru headquarters in Kampala.
“This was against a background that these areas were harbouring criminals who mug pedestrians and snatch phones of motorists and pedestrians,” he added.
Kituuma explained that several of the arrested individuals were found in possession of marijuana and are currently being held at Kira Road Police Division, awaiting prosecution.
“The security officers netted 14 suspects some of whom were found in possession of marijuana. They are currently in detention at Kira Road Police Division pending prosecution,” he said.
The Police publicist reiterated the force’s commitment and its sister security agencies to maintaining law and order, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in reporting criminal activities.
