Kiryandongo, (UG):- Kiryandongo District leaders have launched the construction of a 150.7 million shillings fence at Kitwara Seed School. The chain link fence launched will cover the whole school land measuring 10 acres and it will be supported by concrete stands with a live fence.
While launching the fence construction, Anselm Kyaligonza said the project will create a conducive learning environment for learners to enable them to excel academically. Kyaligonza also cautioned the contractor-TEB Technical Services Limited against engaging in sexual relations with students.
“Workers of the contractor, I know you have money but please don’t use it to confuse these young girls. Let them concentrate on their academics,” said Kyaligonza.
As a way of addressing climate change, Kyaligonza encouraged each student of Kitwara Seed School to plant at least five trees which will be provided as part of the fencing of the school land.
Edith Aliguma Adyeri the District Chairperson called upon the students to ensure they keep in school and also encourage their peers to join Kitwara Seed School so as to exploit the services brought by the government.
Simon Peter Konja the Headteacher of the school commended the District leadership for considering fencing of Kitwara Seed whose security has been at stake. He added that the fence will address the challenge of theft and vandalism of school property which has been rampant.
Konja also asked the District leadership to fast-track the Rural Electrification program to enable the school to utilize the ICT equipment and other electronic devices supplied by the government.
Kitwara Seed School is the first Secondary school to be constructed under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program in Kiryandongo District.
