Mukono, (UG):– Uganda’s capital Kampala and surrounding areas were awash in yellow on Thursday, February 20, as thousands of Bazzukulu lined up on the streets to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his visit to Namanve Industrial Park in Mukono.
The day was marked by high-energy mobilization efforts led by SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, popularly known as Chief Muzzukulu, the Manager of President Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC Kyambogo) who spearheaded a massive turnout at Banda stage, along Jinja Road to welcome the President en route to Namanve Industrial Area.
From as early as 10am, the capital’s neighboring areas were buzzing with excitement as Hajjat Namyalo led a spirited mobilization campaign that saw thousands line up all way from Banda to Bweyogerere till Namanve.

Donning the iconic ONC yellow T-shirts, Bazzukulu from all walks of life including vendors, Boda Boda riders, and furniture traders, joined the spectacle, chanting praises for President Museveni and waving Uganda flags.
At around 4pm, the streets came to a standstill as the ONC team energized the crowd, reinforcing the message of continued support for the President’s leadership. Cheers erupted as the convoy carrying Jajja W’abazzukulu made its way through the enthusiastic crowd, marking yet another successful mobilization effort by the ONC leadership.

After the grand welcome, President Museveni proceeded to Namanve Industrial Area in Mukono District, where he officiated the launch of Piston Medical Ltd, Uganda’s first pharmaceutical factory dedicated to producing Small Volume Parenteral (SVP) and Large Volume Parenteral (LVP).
Addressing dignitaries, investors, and industry stakeholders, at the Namanve factory, President Museveni hailed the investment as a game-changer in Uganda’s medical and manufacturing sectors.
“I am very happy to see Ugandans venturing into industrialization. This is the socio-economic transformation we keep talking about,” President Museveni said. “That’s why I always emphasize that you should engage in production not just for consumption but also for income.”

The President emphasized his government’s commitment to industrialization and self-reliance, highlighting the factory’s role in reducing Uganda’s dependence on imported medical supplies.
He also highlighted Uganda’s key economic sectors, including commercial agriculture, manufacturing/ artisanal work, services, and ICT, noting that industrialization is essential for economic growth.
“In developed countries like the USA, only 2% of the population is engaged in agriculture, while the majority are in manufacturing and services. What is happening here is a big step forward for Uganda’s economy,” he said.
The factory, which specializes in the production of critical intravenous (IV) fluids and other essential medical products, is expected to significantly boost Uganda’s healthcare system and provide employment opportunities for thousands of Ugandans.
Thursday’s event showcased a blend of patriotism, economic progress, and mobilization power. From the electrifying reception in Banda led by Hajjat Namyalo to the historic commissioning of Piston Medical Ltd, the activities underscored the continued impact of President Museveni’s leadership in advancing Uganda’s development agenda.
